This unique mini-sized tapestry designed by Ryan, one of our in-house artists, is a quick and easy way to fill up your gallery wall! The Medusa design is hand-painted, blocked onto screens and then screen-printed onto a stretched piece of cotton cloth by hand. Medusa is a fabled creature in ancient Greek mythology, most notable for having coiled hair made of snakes and piercing eyes that petrify anyone who meets her gaze into stone. Over time, Medusa has been depicted as a protective symbol that wards off negative energies.
Variations in the designs can occur due to the difference in pressure from the people doing the screen-printing—the beauty of handcrafted goods! After the screen-printing process, they are line-dried under the sunlight to conserve energy and are then cut and stitched. The entire process is done by hand in India.
